He deceived mermaid
There was a small village near the Varunpur beach. Everyone knew that when strong winds blew and big waves rose in the sea, a crying sound could be heard from the sea. Many believed it was the voice of a mermaid, who was betrayed by a greedy fisherman.
The elders of Varunapur believed that centuries ago, a mermaid named Arundhati lived in the depths of this sea. Her sweet voice and beauty were famous far and wide. One day, an ambitious fisherman, Devansh, heard her melodious song and approached her. Arundhati and Devansh became friends.
Devansh was greedy and cruel man, but Arundhati was simple and kind-hearted. She couldn’t understand his true intentions and started trusting him. One evening, as they were talking, Devansh asked her to lend him her magical necklace for a while. He knew the necklace was her protector. At first, Arundhati refused, but when Devansh said he only wanted to hold it for a moment, she decided to trust him.
That night, after Arundhati handed over her magical necklace to him, Devansh betrayed her. He trapped her in a net. She prayed for freedom, but Devansh took her to the king’s palace. The king loved rare and colorful sea creatures, and when he saw the beautiful mermaid, he gave Devansh a big reward. Arundhati realized she had been betrayed, but it was too late.
The king imprisoned Arundhati in a fortress. She suffered greatly, and her magical life slowly faded. After her death, the sea accepted her soul but left her bones on the land. Her spirit, caught between the sea and the land, cried out for her final rest.
The villagers remembered the terrifying night when Arundhati’s spirit first appeared. Amidst thunder and lightning, her sorrowful cries from the sea shook everyone. Her voice was so full of pain that everyone understood her soul was still searching for peace.
The village priest predicted that only a fearless person with a pure heart and soul could free Arundhati by returning her bones to the sea.
Years later, when Arundhati’s story had become just a scary tale, a young man named Aarav arrived in the village. He had returned to honor his mother’s memories. When Aarav heard the story, he became curious and decided to solve the mystery.
Aarav asked the priest, “Is there a way to free her spirit?”
The priest replied, “Her bones are buried near the old bay. When you hear her cries, try to find them.”
One stormy night, Aarav took his boat and set out, despite the elders trying to stop him. With a torch and digging tools, he headed toward the old bay. As he approached, he heard a magical voice. At first, it was faint, but it grew louder and clearer as he moved forward. Suddenly, a glowing figure appeared amidst the waves—it was Arundhati’s spirit.
“Who dares to feel my pain?” she asked in a sorrowful voice.
With a trembling voice, Aarav replied, “I am here to help you. Tell me how I can free you.”
Arundhati pointed toward the sea. “My bones are buried there. Return them to the sea, and I will be free. But be careful; the storm god will try to stop you.”
Aarav bravely began digging near the bay. At first, everything seemed calm, but as soon as he touched the bones, the sea grew violent. Waves struck his boat, and lightning flashed in the sky. Then, a giant sea creature emerged—it was the storm god.
“These bones are under my control,” the storm god roared. “If you try to take them, you will meet your end.”
But Aarav overcame his fear. “These bones are not yours,” he said. “I will return them to the sea and bring peace to Arundhati’s soul.”
The storm god attacked Aarav. Waves and lightning tried to stop him, but Aarav used all his strength and courage to steer his boat. Finally, he lifted the bones and threw them into the sea. As soon as the bones touched the water, a wave of light spread across the sea. The storm calmed, and Arundhati’s spirit appeared with a smile.
“Thank you, Aarav,” she said. “You have freed me. Now, I can rest in peace in the depths of the sea. I have nothing much to give you, but take this blue stone as a token of my gratitude. You may sell it or keep it.”
With those words, she disappeared.
The next morning, the village woke up to a bright and peaceful day. The sea was calmer and more beautiful than ever. Aarav told the villagers everything. Arundhati’s spirit was finally at peace, and the people of Varunapur hailed Aarav as a hero.
